"Delightfully unique house with friendly, homely atmosphere."
Caroline Denny welcomed me like an old friend to her quirky 17th century house. She couldn't have been more helpful, finding me a safe place to park, sorting out a wifi connection etc. As it was quiet I was upgraded to a huge comfy ensuite room painted in friendly warm colours. Slept well, and really enjoyed my stay. I wished I didn't have to go home, as I'd have liked to have an excuse to stay there longer. Read less

It felt like being invited into someone's own home, rather than a commercial establishment. Loved the left-handed spiral staircases. The dog was sweet too.
Dislikes:
No! A slight proviso for a very few people - it's a very old house with steep spiral staircases, and some people might find these a bit tricky. For me they were a bonus which added to my pleasure.

"Very "Stroud"!"
We loved everything about this beautiful old building, even the spiral stairs. Caroline would not let us carry suitcases up and down, which was very kind of her. One reviewer didn't like the fact that 'it looked like someone's home' which we thought very funny. The good thing about Viner House is that it is someone's home and the more comfortable and welcoming because of that. Thank you Caroline, and we do hope to come again. Read less

A modest english breakfast - the sausages were scrumptious! A bit more in quantity would be better though! Our top floor room was spacious - a bonus for our 13months old to crawl about.
Dislikes:
A bit cold at night, although we asked to put heating on which eventually helped esp. for our 13mths son.

The double-bed mattress need replacing for extra comfort.

The house is a fabulous 17th century merchants house. There was a great sense of place and history and the owner was sensitive to this.
Dislikes:
A little disorganised.
Response from Viner House:
Apologies the towel was taken to clean and dry and had not benn put back in the room by the time they came back at 4pm, likewise the tea tray. Having asked for breakfast at 9am on the first morning and indicated they wanted an early start on the second I was a little surprised to be still awaiting their appearance at 9.45am. I had made other personal arrangements for 10am so had to go out leaving everything prepared apart from the eggs which they were asked to cook for themselves.

An overnight stay in Stroud, Viner House is an easy walk from the station about 10 mins.
It is an unusual house, quite quirky with an amazing old staircase to the room at the top of the house.
The room was comfortable large and very crooked, no straight lines here.
The welcome was friendly and the breakfast very good.
I would stay again.
